Avicii cancels first weekend of Future Music Festival Future Music Festival have advised that “EDM headliner” Avicii has cancelled his sets at both the Brisbane and Perth leg of the festival. The Swede was due to take the stage at 9.00pm tonight in Brisbane to close the festival, but Future advised on their Facebook shortly before his scheduled start time that the Levels hitmaker would not be performing. While it’s bad news for Perth, Future have advised that the headliner “looks forward to playing the remaining shows next weekend” and that in his place, young gun Hardwell will play extended set. “It is with deep regret that we inform you of the decision to cancel Avicii’s performances at Future Music Festival in Brisbane and Perth,” FMF stated. “Avicii went directly to the hospital upon landing in Brisbane for stomach related issues. He has been hospitalised since then. Over the past couple of days we have been monitoring his condition and we have all been optimistic about him being healthy enough to perform. Unfortunately the doctors are not willing to discharge him at this time which means he will sadly be unable to appear tonight or at tomorrow’s festival.” Future Music Festival rolls onto Perth tomorrow, hitting Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide next weekend. Along for the ride are inimitable headliners The Prodigy, joined at the Warrior’s Dance Arena by techno whizz Boys Noize and bass fiends Zeds Dead, Borgore and Kill the Noise. Then there’s the Wake Your Mind stage led by trance legends Cosmic Gate, the Cocoon Heores arena with Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin and co and guns like Madeon and Rudimental on the mainstage.
